Peru —through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs— on Wednesday expressed its deepest condolences to the Government and people of China for the unfortunate loss of human lives and injuries caused by a strong earthquake that recently occurred in the provinces of Gansu and Qinghai.

On December 18, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit the Chinese province of Gansu, resulting in at least 111 dead and around 200 injured people.

Its epicenter was located at the border between the provinces of Gansu and Qinghai, 10 kilometers deep, the China Earthquake Networks Center reported.

According to local media, water supply, electricity, communications, and transportation services were damaged.

Similarly, passenger and freight rail services were suspended in the area after this incident.

Peru also hopes for the prompt recovery of the zones affected by this natural disaster.
