Peru's National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) on Tuesday informed the Judicial Branch that ex-President Alberto Fujimori can be transferred to Barbadillo prison to serve his sentence as
the humanitarian pardon, granted to him in 2017 by former President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, was
annulled by the Judicial Branch.
The aforementioned venue is located at National Police Special Operations Unit (Diroes) headquarters.
In a statement, INPE indicated a general physician is in charge of the health services at the penitentiary center. Plus, there are three nursing technicians working at the facility.
It should be noted Fujimori was held at this prison between 2007 and 2017.
About Fujimori
After having fled to Japan and traveled to Chile —from where he was extradited to Peru— the Fujimori patriarch was sentenced for crimes against human rights and corruption committed during his term in office.
