Environment Minister Fabiola Muñoz on Friday morning welcomed the
vote of confidence granted by Congress to the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos earlier at 3:28 a.m. (local time).
According to the government official, the decision reflects the mature attitude to work for the well-being of the population.
Muñoz noted that State ministers have fulfilled a democratic mandate by going to the Parliament to report on the Government's actions in the fight against COVID-19 and on the provisions towards a new social coexistence.
The minister noted that the critical position of some political groups in relation to the Government's actions is part of the political game.
Additionally, she stressed the fact that political forces in Congress are aware that there is no place for personal or partisan interests under this new social coexistence, but for initiatives to put Peru and its people first.
"The only way to reduce the impact of this pandemic is by working together, and we therefore welcome and appreciate lawmakers’ attitude. In fact, we believe this is the most mature attitude between the two State branches to work together, putting the well-being of Peruvian people first and foremost," she told Canal N local channel.
In this sense, the high-ranking official highlighted that citizens demand collaborative action against the coronavirus pandemic from their authorities.
