on Wednesday assured that the Executive Branch has concrete proposals to resume talks with agricultural sector workers in Ica region, adding that he hopes the dialogue will be productive to meet their demands.
Likewise, the high-ranking official argued that the high-level commission —which is also composed of
Labor Minister Javier Palacios and both sector's deputy ministers— will propose the repeal of the regulatory framework of the Agrarian Promotion Law, "which is limiting the rights of workers."
"We have come with concrete proposals for workers; we have faith that we will reach agreements and lift the emergency (situation).
The President of the Republic (Francisco Sagasti) has requested us in a special way to open dialogue, reach consensus, and put an end to this situation," he said in remarks to TVPeru.
Furthermore, the Cabinet member explained that dialogue with agricultural workers had begun on Monday with the presence of the deputy ministers of Agrarian Policies and Labor, who listened to the demands, became aware of the situation, and presented a detailed report.
"We have been meeting with the
President (Francisco Sagasti) to develop concrete proposals that we hope can help meet their demands," he reiterated.
Moreover,
Labor Minister Palacios said the meeting will serve to address the demands of agricultural workers, with concrete proposals on the issues discussed with the two deputy ministers during the previous meeting.
"We are hopeful because we believe that we can find common ground to resolve a complex situation, as well as optimism because we know the strength, in general, of the people of Ica and Peru," he concluded.
