With the aim of identifying joint actions to continue strengthening the contribution of international cooperation in Peru, the
organized the 38th Meeting of the Cooperating Partners Forum.
The APCI reported that the main challenges for managing international cooperation are consolidating its contribution and efficacy toward the country's development priorities, as well as identifying new cooperation opportunities and positioning Peru as a technical cooperation provider in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Likewise, it stated that the meeting presented the main regulatory changes aimed at strengthening Peru’s role as both a recipient and provider of international cooperation, improving the APCI's operational capacities, and enhancing recognition of Peru's Technical Cooperation Offer, among other elements.
In turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the strategic role of international cooperation as an essential complement to national policies in closing structural development gaps.
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized external cooperation as an important component for Peru's progress in the process of joining the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
It was also stated that Peru will strategically focus its efforts on intensifying cooperation in two priority areas: economic recovery and citizen security.
Wide participation
Officials from the APCI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in the meeting, along with representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB); the Embassies of Germany, Canada, Spain, South Korea, China, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Japan, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland; and the delegation of the European Union.
Representatives from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, the German Development Agency, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency took part in the event as well.
Additionally, the United Nations System, including the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), UNICEF, UNESCO, PAHO/WHO, UNAIDS, the World Food Programme (WFP), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) joined the meeting.
