Peru's
2019 Public Budget. will ensure concrete steps in the implementation of a result-based management that will prioritize the support for
indigenous communities. and the enhancement of archeological heritage, Culture Minister Patricia Balbuena affirmed.
The official noted that over S/192 million (around US$57 million) will be invested in the enhancement and public use of cultural heritage, as well as S/62 million (about US$18 million) in the development and promotion of art and cultural industries.
The preservation or restoration of 3,312 properties and sanitation of 70 pre-Hispanic archeological monuments stand out among the major challenges for next year.
Furthermore, Minister Balbuena underlined the remodeling and refurbishment of 55 State museums by 2021, as well as the S/25 million (around US$7.543 million) financing for 427 cultural and artistic production projects, through public tenders.
State-run museums, archeological monuments and
historical sites are projected to welcome over 442,400 new visitors thru 2019.
Likewise, over 600 libraries will join the National Library Registry (RNB) aimed at all Peruvian citizens.
Intercultural and bilingual approach
On the other hand, one of Culture Ministry's 2019 goals is to implement intercultural and bilingual projects in four services across six regions.
Other targets include the supervision of 15 prior consultation procedures in diverse sectors, as well as the application of a territorial and indigenous reserves management model.
Also, the ministry seeks to broadcast news in native languages by radio and television, certify 1,500 bilingual public servants in Ayacucho, Amazonas and Cusco regions, as well as implement an Indigenous Languages Interpreting Center, among other things.
