00:44 | Napo (Loreto region), Jun. 3.

Shipments of rapid tests, medical supplies, personal protective equipment, and provisions have been sent to Santa Clotilde town in Napo district (Loreto region), as part of the civic actions coordinated with the Ministries of Culture, Defense, and Health, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), and the Joint Command of the Armed Forces.

Culture Minister Alejandro Neyra, who participated in the distribution of said materials, affirmed that the aim of the activity is to help contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the jurisdictions of Santa Clotilde, Caballococha and Trompeteros health networks in Loreto region.

"As we have been pointing out, our priority during the state of emergency is to ensure the health of indigenous populations and provide better living conditions to their inhabitants," the official stated.

Santa Clotilde has a population of 15,600 inhabitants and is made up of Kichwa, Maijuna, Murui Muinane, Arabela and Secoya ethnic groups.

The minister reported that the activity is part of the civic actions designed by the Government with the coordination and multi-sectoral support from PCM's Deputy Ministry of Territorial Governance.

"We are working together, with greater enthusiasm, to help the population 24/7; that is very clear to us, since we are all committed to the work needed to face the pandemic," he emphasized.
