Peru: COVID-19 restrictions eased in Lima and Callao

Restrictions in Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao were lowered from "extreme" to "very high" risk level in terms of COVID-19 until May 30. Thus, some restrictions will be lifted in those areas.


No private vehicles

Citizens will be allowed to go out on Sundays on foot or by bicycle, but the use of private vehicles will be restricted.

Nevertheless, public transportation means, including taxis, will be available for emergencies and those performing essential activities. 

Interprovincial transportation by land means will be available, but will operate at 50-100% capacity, as regulated by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).

Curfew

The curfew in Metropolitan Lima and Callao will be in force Mondays to Sundays 9:00 pm to 4:00 am. the following day.

Likewise, massive events, carnivals, traditional festivals and access to beaches are banned thru May 30th.

Market and supermarkets, as well as shopping centers and restaurants will be open during the day with the following capacity limits:

-At malls, shopping arcades, department stores and conglomerates, the capacity limit will be 30%.
-Stores providing essential goods, supermarkets, markets, bodegas, and pharmacies will operate at 50% capacity.
-Restaurants can operate at 40% capacity limit.
-The capacity limit at casinos and slot machine halls, gyms, cinemas, and indoor locations for performing arts will be 30%.
-At banks and other financial entities, the capacity limit is 50%.
-At temples and religious sites, the capacity limit will be 30%.
-At sports clubs and associations, the capacity limit will be 40%.
-At libraries, museums, archaeological monuments, cultural centers, and galleries, the capacity limit is 40%.

Activities in open spaces have no capacity limits, but must comply with protocols.
