Peru: COVID-19 Omicron cases rise to 116, new cases detected in Lima and regions

The number of cases of infection with COVID-19's Omicron variant increased to 116 in Lima and some regions of Peru, Health Minister Hernando Cevallos reported on Wednesday.

During a press conference, the high-ranking official specified that 112 Omicron cases have been detected in Lima and Callao region, in addition to 3 cases in Sullana (Piura region) and 1 in Chimbote (Ancash region).

The Cabinet member said that, although the Delta variant remains the predominant one in Peru, the presence of Omicron continues to rise in the country.
