At a special session, the Constitutional Court (TC) assesses the competence claim over the presidential vacancy on the grounds of permanent moral incapacity.

The hearing has been taking place since noon.

The competence claim was filed by State Attorney for Constitutional Issues Luis Huerta, so that the highest judicial body in the country can determine how the cause for permanent moral incapacity should be interpreted.

Congress Attorney Manuel Peña stated his plea regarding the competence claim after he was notified by the Constitutional Court, thus clearing the way for this body to review the claim.

Constitutional Court (TC) Chairwoman Marianella Ledesma was appointed as judge-rapporteur in this case.
