Peru: Constitutional accusation against ex-Judge Hinostroza, former CNM members approved

The Congressional Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations approved a constitutional accusation against former Supreme Judge Cesar Hinostroza and ex-members of the deactivated National Council of the Magistracy (CNM).

The conclusions of the final report recommended that Hinostroza be charged with the alleged commission of the crimes of criminal organization, illegal sponsorship, specific passive bribery, specific active bribery, and influence peddling.

Former CNM members Guido Aguila and Orlando Velasquez are accused of having allegedly committed the crime of criminal organization.

In the case of Sergio Noguera, another ex-member, the constitutional accusation was for having allegedly committed the crimes of criminal organization and specific passive bribery.

Finally, former CNM member Julio Gutierrez is accused of the crimes of criminal organization and illegal sponsorship.

The final report was approved with nine votes in favor and one abstention by Fuerza Popular (Popular Force) legislator Martha Chavez.

The document was presented by Frepap lawmaker Maria Cristina Retamozo, who was elected as delegate of the constitutional complaint 247, presented by Supreme Prosecutor Pablo Sanchez.

Former Supreme Judge Cesar Hinostroza is considered by the Peruvian Prosecutor's Office as the head of The Port's White Collars, a group formed by magistrates of the Judiciary and Public Ministry, whose objective was to control the agencies responsible for administering justice in order to obtain illegal benefits.
