Peruvian Government on Friday condemned the violent actions in Nicaragua and deplored the high number of casualties reported so far.

In a statement issued by its Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Andean nation appealed for a definitive cessation of violence, the restoration of peace, and the resumption of an effective dialogue in the Central American country.

The idea is that Nicaraguans can overcome the political and social crisis they face.

On the other hand, the Peruvian Government called for compliance with the recommendations made by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).

In the same way, it urged the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) to start supporting the investigations on the violent events that have occurred in Nicaragua since April 18.
