The Peruvian Government strongly condemned the launch of a new ballistic missile by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on October 4, 2022, which flew over Japanese territory and hit the Pacific Ocean.

In a statement issued last Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that the repeated launches by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea constitute, in addition to a threat to international peace and security, a repeated violation of International Law and the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

"Peru expresses its solidarity with the Government of Japan and demands that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea comply with its international obligations in terms of disarmament and non-proliferation," the document reads.
