The urgency decree announced by President Martin Vizcarra in order to unblock stalled works will have a positive impact on public investment in the following months,
Central Reserve Bank (BCR) Governor Julio Velarde has informed.
"I believe it (the decree) will have a positive impact in the last quarter of the year. I expect an impact, but I don't know its magnitude," the BCR official said after the release of a special silver coin commemorating the death of Peruvian author Ricardo Palma.
According to
Velarde, said decree is the starting point to unblock all stalled projects.
"Peru's Comptroller General, Nelson Shack, proposed it long time ago, and I believe it had be passed. In line with this, we must work to revive other important projects like Majes Siguas II, Chavimochic and Olmos," he indicated.
Proposal
On Tuesday,
President Martin Vizcarra announced that the Comptroller General's Office is preparing a proposal to define an interruption in public works, so that authorities can revive stalled projects without becoming involved in alleged irregular practices committed by their predecessors.
During a meeting with mayors of the Association of Municipalities of Peru (AMPE), Vizcarra said he has come across several stalled projects in his visits throughout the country.
