People living in Catacaos, a beautiful small town located on Peru’s northern coast in the Piura region, are preparing for the upcoming Easter celebrations with a series of social and religious activities.

Easter is considered to be a Christian holiday season in Catacaos, where locals seek to preserve and promote their religious and cultural traditions.

In this regard, Catacaos - famous for its crafts, gastronomy and chicha de jora - will hold a series of religious and folk activities during March in preparation for April's Easter week.

"We invite all people to participate in these events and, at the same time, prepare themselves spiritually for Easter celebrations," said Father Manuel Curay Ochoa, pastor of San Juan Bautista church.

Easter celebrations in the craft city of Catacaos are regarded as one of the most important events in Peru's tourism calendar as it attracts thousands of tourists every year.
