During the PDAC 2022: The World's Premier Mineral Exploration & Mining Convention, Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) began preliminary coordination with the Toronto Board of Trade —one of the largest and most influential commerce chambers in North America— to inform, educate, and spread the main characteristics and potentialities of Peru for welcoming foreign investment into our prioritized sectors.

Similarly, the State-run agency, through the Directorate for the Promotion of Business Investments, proposed that the Toronto Board of Trade be able to analyze the environment so that Canadian companies can do business and invest in Peru.

This way, Toronto Board of Trade member companies, which are selected for this program, will be able to learn in depth and become familiar with Peru as a destination country for their investments, thus increasing the attraction of foreign direct investment.

It must be noted that the Toronto Board of Trade is made up of more than 11,500 member companies from different economic sectors in this part of the world.

This scope has even reached Canadian companies in said sectors that have recently settled in Peru, such as the company Hard Line —a manufacturer of high-tech machinery. This effort allows them to obtain feedback on performance and promote the expansion of their investments in our country, contributing to technology transfer and job creation.

PromPeru has also held meetings with important business guilds and government entities from Ontario province, within the framework of this world-renowned convention, to promote a portfolio of investment projects worth US$17.3 million in areas such as: manufacturing and high-tech services for mining, thus promoting foreign direct investment.

Among said meetings, those held by the Toronto Board of Trade; the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry of Ontario; and the Canada-Peru Chamber of Commerce stood out.

The delegation was made up of leaders from the public and private sectors, high-ranking Peruvian Government officials, top executives from the mining sector, and the most prominent promoters of the South American country's economy.

During the PDAC, Peru's delegation will have the opportunity to interrelate with more than 660 investors from 135 countries and more than 514 exhibitors —in a great event that will allow attendees to establish links for professional and/or commercial purposes (networking) and to specify high-end business opportunities.

Also, within the framework of this event, Peru was the guest of honor country to open the Toronto Stock Exchange session. Therefore, the national delegation participated in the well-known opening bell-ringing ceremony. It is worth mentioning that the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) is the largest stock market for high-tech manufacturing and services for mining activities.

Peru's participation in PDAC 2022 is organized by the Canada-Peru Chamber of Commerce, with the support of the Ministries of Energy-Mines (Minem); Foreign Trade-Tourism (Mincetur); Foreign Affairs; the Geological, Mining, and Metallurgical Institute (Ingemmet); PromPeru; and important private sector institutions.
