The Memorandum of Understanding signed between Peru's Transportation and Communications Ministry (MTC) and South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT, during APEC Economic Leaders' Week, will boost bilateral cooperation in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), as highlighted by Minister Raul Perez Reyes.

"This agreement is a key step to strengthen our international cooperation in technology and innovation. With South Korea's support, we will advance towards a more connected, competitive, and prepared Peru to face the challenges of digital transformation," Perez Reyes emphasized.

"This partnership reflects our commitment to integrate Peru into the global development of ICT and ensure that its benefits reach all Peruvians," he added.

The Memorandum of Understanding aims to consolidate a strategic alliance focused on promoting digital development and enhancing the quality of life for citizens in both countries through knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and the formulation of effective public policies.

Collaboration between Peru and South Korea will focus on key areas such as developing technological infrastructure, applying ICT in industries and smart cities, deploying high-speed networks and satellite services, in addition to driving innovation in broadcasting and telecommunications, including 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies.

Moreover, priority will be given to training in digital skills, efficient spectrum management, and the use of telecommunications for emergency prevention and response.

In recent years, the MTC has closely collaborated with South Korea, facilitating visits from experts, exchanging technical information, and conducting specialized studies. These efforts have advanced the implementation of technological solutions and helped bridge digital gaps for the benefit of the Peruvian population.

It is worth noting that the Memorandum of Understanding was signed during a high-level meeting led by President Dina Boluarte and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on November 16.

This event also saw the participation of Minister Perez Reyes and Deputy Communications Minister, Carla Sosa Vela, who emphasized the significance of this international cooperation in consolidating an inclusive and sustainable digital future.

The signing of this Memorandum reinforces the shared vision of both nations to position technological innovation as a cornerstone of economic and social development.
