Peru's Transport and Communications Ministry (MTC) and Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on transport.
The agreement will allow the exchange of information, experiences, technology, and good practices for mutual development of their economies.
To that end, Transport and Communications Minister Edmer Trujillo paid a working visit to
Japan, which ended in a meeting with Japanese counterpart Keiichi Ishii.
The cooperation covers topics like land, aerial, and maritime transportation; transport safety; technology application; implementation and operation of Integrated Urban Transport Systems; road, railway and waterway transportation; as well as other fields of mutual interest.
"This is an important step for the development of Peruvian transport sector," Trujillo underlined.
"Japan's extraordinary technological development and undeniable research works will enrich our current capabilities in order to speed up the reduction of the infrastructure gap and modernize transportation management on national roads and even urban transportation," he explained.
Under this agreement, both countries commit to share information on experiences and good practices, as well as planning, development, and regulations.
