Peru: Ancash region executes a new strategy to face COVID-19 in initial stage

14:33 | Chimbote (Ancash region), Jun. 11.

The Ancash Region Government —through the State-run Red de Salud Pacífico Sur (South Pacific Health Network)— has started to distribute medicine kits containing ivermectin, azithromycin, hydroxychloroquine, and acetaminophen to suspected COVID-19 patients and those who have already tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Nuevo Chimbote District.

The director of the aforementioned institution Marlon Tello Juarez supervised the work of the rapid response and clinical follow-up teams responsible for delivering the kits of drugs aimed at lowering patients' viral load, thus preventing them from reaching the critical stage.

Tello Juarez thanked the support by Nuevo Chimbote District Municipality for having provided the local sports center facilities for the corresponding Operations Center, which relies on 5 rapid response teams and 4 clinical follow-up teams, plus a telephone center.

He also announced that —in the coming days— this action will be replicated in more districts and provinces belonging to Ancash region, in order to lower the complications in COVID-19 patients.
