Peru: Air connectivity advances in 2018

15:30 | Lima, May. 9.

This year brings very good news in terms of air connectivity, as there are orders for international flights to Cusco and new destinations in the Inca country, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Rogers Valencia affirmed.

"We are working on the matter, trying to facilitate the arrival of international travelers and connect Peru with more than one gateway," the minister told Andina news agency.

Above all, he said, the country is looking for greater air connection to Iquitos and the Amazon —in general— or the Cusco hub that has already received requests for flights from Santiago (Chile) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).

According to Valencia, his portfolio expects the tourism sector to expand beyond 10% in 2018.

Remarks were made following his participation in the launching of Cusco's jubilee month celebrations at Lima-based archaeological site of Huaca Pucllana on Tuesday night.
