Peru agro-exports to keep rising, hitting US$11 billion by 2021

17:00 | Lima, Sep. 25.

Peruvian agro-exports are expected to total US$11 billion by 2021, said Erik Fischer, chairman of privately-run Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex), on Wednesday.

The legal framework of the extension of the Agricultural Promotion Law will be helpful in this respect.

"Some 2.6 million additional jobs will be created in the country if we reach this goal," he underlined.

The remarks were made at the opening of the 11th Expoalimentaria fair at Jockey Exhibition Center in Lima's Surco district.

Also attending were Agriculture Minister Fabiola Muñoz, Vice-President Mercedes Araoz, and deputy state ministers.

The best Peruvian foods and beverages will be displayed on September 25, 26 and 27 at Expoalimentaria 2019, a trade show organized by Adex, with the support of the Ministries of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Agriculture and Irrigation, and Foreign Affairs, as well as the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru).

The event will showcase over 500 exhibiting companies from Peru and abroad, and will host 2,500 buyers from five continents.
