Peru: Agreement to hold 52nd OAS General Assembly in Lima was published

The agreement between the Government of Peru and the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) to hold the 52nd Regular Period of Sessions of the General Assembly of said organization in the city of Lima was published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Wednesday.

The aforementioned agreement was signed on July 8, 2022, in Washington, D.C., United States of America, and was later approved by Legislative Resolution No. 31528 on July 25.

Its ratification was carried out through a supreme decree issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on August 3.

The 52nd General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) will be held in the city of Lima on October 5-7, 2022.

According to the agreement, the Peruvian Government will commit US$585,321 to finance the event and the OAS General Secretariat will contribute another US$110,000 to that end. 

There will be facilities for the plenary session of the General Assembly, the General Committee, working groups, bilateral meetings, the signing of agreements, delegates, and media centers, among others.

In addition, the Government is committed to complying with all local and international health measures recommended to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission during the event.
