10:12 | Lima, Sep. 30.

In order to continue with Phase 3 clinical trials of the inactivated vaccine from China's Sinopharm laboratory, Cayetano Heredia University's Center for Clinical Studies calls for more volunteers to participate in the process so as to recruit an additional 1,000 participants.

In a statement, the team —made up of researchers from Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) and San Marcos (UNMSM) Universities— explained that those wishing to participate can register here starting Wednesday, September 30, at 8:00 p.m.

The webpage will include a link saying "I want to participate," which will allow access to the registration form and be automatically deactivated after the first 1,000 volunteers have registered.

In the following days, volunteers will be contacted by phone and shall confirm the validation message sent to their emails.

After verifying volunteers' personal information and confirming their eligibility to participate, the research team will coordinate with them the day and time to reach the Center for Clinical Studies at UPCH.

Researchers from both universities emphatically reiterate that —as part of the study— a third of the volunteers will receive a placebo, so their participation does not imply that they are protected from COVID-19.

Therefore, they must adhere to prevention and social distancing measures.
