The number of Peruvian citizens eligible to vote in the 2021 general elections stands at 25,287,954, according to the electoral roll crafted by the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC) and approved by the National Election Board (JNE).

Peruvians —who turn 18 between the date that the registry closed (April 11, 2020) and the day of the elections (April 11, 2021)— total 549,648.

This sector of the population has been incorporated into the registry, so that its members can exercise their right and fulfill their duty —once they have reached the age of majority.

Of all the citizens entitled to vote, 997,033 reside overseas, whereas 24,290,921 live in the national territory.

In Lima region, there are the districts with the largest and smallest electoral populations: San Juan de Lurigancho district (784,263 people) and Cochas, in Yauyos district (143 people).

The initial registry included 25,409,970 citizens. However, the figure was reduced following the filtering carried out by RENIEC and the inspection conducted by the JNE.

RENIEC indicated that —based on current electoral regulations— citizens who appear in the registry must vote, except for those who have already reached 70 years of age.

Fines for not voting vary in accordance with the district of residence, and there are additional fines for polling station members who do not perform their duties on the occasion.
