Moody's: Peru economy to grow 3% in 2020 and 3.5% in 2021

11:32 | Lima, Dec. 6.

Peruvian economy will speed up in the coming years, posting growth rates of 3% in 2020 and 3.5% in 2021, Moody's Investor Services Associate Managing Director Alejandro Olivo projected on Friday.

"We are not concerned about Peru, because it is expected to witness rates of 3% in 2020 and 3.5% in 2021," he stated.

The economist underscored that Peru continues to show growth rates that are very attractive on a regional scale, but higher economic growth is always the goal.

"Even though these rates are not as high as those recently experienced, they don't sound bad at all in relative terms. Of course, these are growth rates that other countries in the region would envy," he added.

A3 credit rating, stable outlook

As for Peru's credit rating, Olivo believes there is no particular concern on this matter. Besides, he thinks the country's A3 rating and stable outlook will remain unchanged.

"There is no downward pressure on the immediate horizon. Peru has received a stable credit rating," he expressed.
