MEF: Peru economy likely to increase 4.7% in 2019-2022

Economy and Finance Minister Carlos Oliva on Friday projected Peru's GDP will increase on average by 4.7% in the 2019-2022 period.

This forecast was included in the Multiannual Macroeconomic Framework (MMM), published in El Peruano official gazette. 

"Peruvian economy is at the beginning of an acceleration phase, as the outcome of the implementation of a countercyclical macroeconomic policy and a favorable external environment," Oliva expressed. 

The official highlighted the Government's commitment to consolidating economic growth in the short-, medium-, and long-term, thus ensuring a prudent and responsible management of fiscal accounts. 

He went on to add GDP expanded nearly 4.3% in the first half of 2018, the highest rate in nine six-month periods. 

Within this framework, MEF has revised upwards its projection for the current year from 3.6% to 4%.
