WBA female super featherweight champion Kina Malpartida will receive tomorrow the “Sports Laurels”, Peru's highest sports award, the head of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) Arturo Woodman announced Tuesday.

The champion will receive the award from President Alan García’s hands in a ceremony to be held at the Government Palace with the participation of IPD authorities as well as the athlete’s family.

"Next week, the name of Kina Malpartida will be displayed on a wall of Lima’s National Stadium," said Woodman, who noted that the most important thing is that the world champion receives warm ovation from fans.

"The IPD expects to give her the homage she deserves. The state fund will also give her a 15,000 dollar prize for having accomplished this great achievement," Woodman stated.

On February 22, Peruvian born fighter Kina Malpartida won the vacant WBA super-featherweight title stopping Maureen Shea in the tenth round at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
