Peruvian fighter Kina Malpartida would defend her WBA female super featherweight title at a packed National Stadium in Lima, said the president of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), Arturo Woodman.

Woodman said he has talked to World Boxing Association (WBA) President Gilberto Mendoza, who expressed his desire to see Malpartida defending the WBA title in her native Peru.

On February 22, Peruvian born fighter Kina Malpartida won the vacant WBA super-featherweight title stopping Maureen Shea in the tenth round at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Peruvian fighters Luis Ibáñez, Oscar Romero and Orlando Rivadeneyra attempted to win a world boxing title but they were unsuccessful.

Lima has only hosted fights for the South American and Latin American championship in the 1970s and 1980s.

Woodman also commented that Malpartida has never lost her Peruvian nationality, despite taking Australian citizenship, adding that everything indicates that she would receive the Sporting Laurels, Peru's highest sports award.
