11:35 | Chachapoyas, oct. 30.
The main square in Chachapoyas will be the stage for a massive public tasting of 10,000 cups of specialty coffee from the Amazonas region, held on the eve of the 9th International Specialty Coffee Fair – FICAFÉ Amazonas 2025, which officially opens on Thursday, November 6, at the Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza University.
Chachapoyas located in the north of Peru, is just an hour and 25 minutes away by airplane from Lima, the capital city of Peru.
More than 20 renowned baristas will prepare a wide variety of beverages —including cappuccinos, cold brews, café de olla (coffee from hotpot), and signature creations— offering the public a chance to experience the versatility and unique flavor profiles of Amazonian coffee.
Amazonas Regional Governor Gimer Horna Corrales announced that tasting stations will be set up at each corner of the main square, featuring coffees from Utcubamba, Luya, Bongará, and Rodríguez de Mendoza provinces.
The event will recreate the spirit of the traditional Nina Raymi Fire Festival, complete with bonfires, traditional dances, and more than ten live bands. Sponsored by AGROMERCADO, the commercial arm of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), the celebration highlights Peru’s family farming sector and its connection to local markets.
