Peruvian badminton player Ines Castillo shone in the II Venezuela International 2025 Badminton Tournament, as she won the gold medal in the women’s singles category, in a tough competence held at the Mauricio Johnson Indoor Gymnasium, in the Venezuelan city of Maracay.
Castillo —Peru’s badminton queen— showed a dominant performance in the championship match, defeating Mexico’s Sabrina Solís 2–0 (21–10, 21–13) and with this result reaffirmed her position among the top players in the region.
"I dedicate this victory to my family and my team, who always support me —my coach, my physiotherapist— everyone who works with me everyday" Castillo said after winining the tournament.
"Preparation has been key, and as intense as always. Having personalized training with my coach Christina has helped me become more efficient and focused on what I must improve", added.
"Giving 100% in every training session is always tough, but it’s crucial for reaching goals like winning gold at a tournament like this. Now it’s time to keep working so we can win another gold at the upcoming Bolivarian Games", she highlighted.

The international competition brought together top-level athletes from Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, and Peru.
Castillo, who competes under the Peruvian Sports Institute’s (IPD) Lima 2027 Program, continues showing excellent shape as she prepares for the Ayacucho–Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games.
The Lima 2027 Program, led by the IPD, provides high-performance support to 57 athletes and para-athletes as they pursue excellence on the road to the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
With IPD support, the Peruvian Badminton Federation remains committed to strengthening the sport’s growth nationwide and ensuring Peru continues to shine in international competition.
