INEI: Peru's economy up 4.67% in March 2025, above market expectations

The Peruvian economy continues to show strong performance, having recorded a 4.67% growth in March of this year, supported by the favorable results of all economic sectors, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported on Thursday.

Peru's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased by 3.92% so far this year (January–March 2025), and it recorded a positive variation of 3.95% over the past 12 months (April 2024–March 2025).

The result is above the Central Reserve Bank's (BCR) expectations, which had projected a 4.5% growth for the third month of the year.

Similarly, the Peruvian economy has maintained a positive streak of 12 consecutive months of growth since April 2024.

Among the sectors that stood out were: Agriculture and Livestock (+3.34%); Fishing (+29.12%); Manufacturing (+3.20%); Transportation, Storage, and Messaging (+8.82%); Mining-Hydrocarbons (+7.04%); Construction (+5.22%); Commerce (+3.90%); ; Accommodation and Restaurants (+1.34%); Finance-Insurance (+1.64%); Services Provided to Companies (+4.76%); Government Services (+4.39%); and Electricity, Gas, and Water (+4.31%).

On the other hand, Telecommunications and Other Information Services (-0.19%) registered unfavorable performances.

It is worth noting that in March 2024, the comparison month, Holy Week activities took place, whereas this year the celebration was held in April.
