"At this moment, we already have (detected) three cases of the British variant with two contacts. It means that there are contacts that we have been able to detect," she said during her virtual presentation before Congress' Health and Population Commission.
Likewise, the high-ranking official explained that health sector researchers have not yet detected the presence of the other variants reported around the world, such as those emerged in Brazil or South Africa.
"So far, we have no confirmation of the variant that has originated in Brazil, and we do not have any confirmation of the variant originated in South Africa," she indicated.
Furthermore, the Cabinet member stated that specialized personnel also search for the variants found in the United States, given that Peru welcomed a large number of people from the North American country last December.

Faced with this situation, the government official urged the Peruvian people to continue complying with the measures to prevent COVID-19 contagion because "there are no magic pills or self-medication."
