The Government has authorized the arrival and departure of international flights at Jorge Chavez International Airport for the return of Peruvian nationals —who have been stranded abroad— and of foreign visitors to their places of origin, following the
closure of Peruvian borders, which kicked off on Tuesday to tackle the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
To that end, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) will provide all facilities to said flights, which will be coordinated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the
Supreme Decree No. 045-2020-PCM, published in
El Peruano official gazette, authorization is granted only at the request of the Foreign Affairs Ministry with the official list of Peruvian and foreign nationals travelling in said flights.
Peruvian nationals returning from abroad shall meet the mandatory social isolation requirements, as stipulated by the Ministry of Health (Minsa).
Meanwhile, foreigners who remain at Jorge Chavez International Airport are being assisted by the consulates of their home countries on their return to their places of origin.
