13:00 | Lima, Oct. 12 (ANDINA).
About five companies under the National Fund for the Financing of State Entrepreneurial Activities (Fonafe) would list their shares on the Lima Stock Exchange (BVL) by 2016, said Titto Almora, head of Fonafe.
"Our goal is to enter the stock market with energy companies because we have 15 such companies. One of them is engaged in rural electrification and has a subsidiary role. The government is committed to provide electricity to the largest number of people as possible," he told Andina.
Almora said "it would be very interesting" that Electroperú lists on the stock market as well as the enterprises under the Distriluz Group, which supplies electricity to the north-central part of the country through Hidrandina, Electronorte and Electronoroeste.
"There would be five companies taking this step and the goal is to start with energy generation and distribution," he said during the second meeting of the Latin American Network on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) in Lima, Peru.
According to the head of Fonafe, the aim is that these companies list their shares on the stock exchange to raise financing, and he added that the energy sector is the best positioned to do so.
