“Cementerio General”, the first full-length horror film directed and produced in Peru, opens in theaters across the country this weekend.
The supernatural horror flick, which is directed by Dorian Fernandez Moris and written by Javier Velasquez, is based on an urban legend centered around a city’s main cemetery, website Peruthisweek.com reported.

“Cementerio General” began filming in January 2012 in Iquitos, where the story is set. The story follows a 15-year-old girl named Andrea, who is dealing with the death of her father. Her friends encourage her to contact him using a Ouija board, which triggers a series of terrifying events.

The film uses the found footage style, similar to other horror movies like “The Blair Witch Project” and “Paranormal Activity.”

The star of the movie, Airam Galliani, is a Peruvian teenager, who was chosen out of thousands of young Peruvian actresses.
