Peruvian Economy and Finance Minister Jose Arista met with
Central Reserve Bank (BCR) Governor Julio Velarde to address the economic and fiscal agenda in order to foster the country's growth.
The Peruvian economy recorded a fall of 0.55% in 2023 mainly due to the decline in the Manufacturing sector (-6.65%), as well as negative results in the Construction, Financial, Telecommunications, Agriculture, and Fishing sectors, the
National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported yesterday.
"Today (on Thursday), Economy and Finance Minister Jose Arista held a meeting with Central Reserve Bank (BCR) Governor Julio Velarde, in which they addressed the economic and fiscal agenda to boost the country's growth," the MEF indicated.
Moreover, he has experience in the public sector after having assumed the agriculture sector's portfolio in 2018.
The new Economy and Finance sector's head is an economist by profession, graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
He also holds a master's degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), in the United States of America.
