10:00 | Lima, Nov. 17.

A 6-year-old Peruvian girl and her mother, Nessma Alasttal, are already in Peru, after having gone through the Gaza-Egypt border via the Rafah border crossing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.

"Our 6-year-old compatriot and her mother are already in Peru. The Foreign Affairs Ministry welcomed her, and it reaffirms its commitment to the assistance and protection of our compatriots abroad," the government agency reported via social media on Thursday night.

The post includes a video, in which the minor and her mother can be seen being welcomed by family members.

Their evacuation was possible thanks to the efforts by the Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry and its network of embassies in the Middle East, especially in Egypt and Israel.

As is known, conflict between Israel and Gaza broke out at the beginning of October.

At that time, Nessma Alasttal and her daughter were in said part of Palestine after having traveled there to visit relatives.

Alasttal thanked Peru's Embassy in Egypt and the head of the diplomatic mission in the North African country for the evacuation, which occurred a week after the opening of the Rafah border post.
