Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Nestor Popolizio stressed the importance of his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono's official visit to the Inca nation.
"The presence of Foreign Affairs Minister Kono contributes to consolidating the progress achieved during
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's official visit to our country back in November 2016," Popolizio told Andina news agency.
Taro Kono will meet with President Martin Vizcarra at Lima's Government Palace today.
Other scheduled activities include a private session between foreign affairs ministers of Peru and Japan, as well as a working meeting between both countries' delegations.
"We believe this meeting is ideal to highlight the importance of maximizing the Economic Partnership Agreement's benefits for both nations and introducing our country's favorable climate to increase trade and investments," the government official said.
