Ex-judge Hinostroza's asylum petition declined by Spain

13:09 | Madrid (Spain), Jun. 17.

The Spanish Government denied the request for asylum made by former Peruvian judge Cesar Hinostroza, who is immersed in an extradition process, the Ministry of Justice reported on Friday.

"The provisions by the Spanish Supreme Court are definitive and ratify the request of the Peruvian Government," said the aforementioned Executive Branch institution.

The asylum request was part of the set of resources that the former magistrate had filed to avoid his extradition and prosecution for actions that judicial authorities link to the case called "The Port's White Collars."

However, according to the Peruvian Ministry of Justice, "in a bilateral manner, his responsibility for committing corruption crimes to the detriment of the Peruvian State has been confirmed."

"We trust in the timely and efficient action of the Spanish Government, so that it proceeds immediately to the handing over of the extraditable subject," indicates the statement issued on this matter.

The proceedings against Hinostroza are in charge of the Public State Attorney's Office Specialized in Crimes of Corruption of Officials.
