Peru team climbed to Davis Cup's Americas Zone Group I by defeating Venezuela squad (3-2) on Monday.
A victory by Nicolas Alvarez against counterpart David Martinez (3-1) allowed Peru to earn its ticket to the next group.
The match kicked off on Sunday. Alvarez began losing the first set (4-6), but he recovered to win the second and third 6-4 and 7-6, respectively.
However, the event was suspended due to lack of lights.
After resuming the rubber this morning, Alvarez won the fourth set quickly (6-1).
"It is a great team. We worked very hard. Following yesterday's match, I had a little of anxiety, but I managed to relax at night," Alvarez told local CMD channel.
Thanks to this result, Peru won the final series (3-2) and advanced to Americas zone Group I.
It will face delegations representing Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and the play-off winner of the match between the Dominican Republic and Barbados.
