Coronavirus deaths increase to 3 in Peru

The amount of people, who have died from coronavirus (COVID-19), rose to three in Peru as at Thursday night, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) has confirmed.

One of the victims is a 47-year-old man —with a history of travel to Spain— who had suffered from bronchial asthma and obesity.

The citizen had been admitted to Lima-based Dos de Mayo Hospital's Intensive Care Unit for respiratory failure and septic shock.

However, his evolution was unfavorable, causing his death today at 06:15 pm.

Dead at home

The other case involves a 69-year-old patient, who had also visited Spain.

He received medical attention at the Peruvian capital city's Edgardo Rebagliati Hospital for respiratory issues and passed away at his home in the Lima district of Miraflores.

First death


The deceased citizen —with a history of high blood pressure— had entered the Air Force Hospital's ICU on March 17, following severe respiratory failure. He passed away today at 3:00 p.m.

"On behalf of all Peruvians, we express our heartfelt condolences to their relatives at this moment of pain," it concluded.
