The goal scored by Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero in last night's match against Chile (3-0) makes him the current top goal scorer playing the Copa America Brasil 2019.

The captain has scored 13 goals at such tournaments, whose present edition is coming to an end on Sunday with the final match between Brazil and Peru.

Paolo Guerrero outperformed Chilean Eduardo Vargas —with whom he shared the top spot with 12 goals each— when Peru thrashed defending champions Chile in Copa America semi-finals in Porto Alegre.

The two forwards have the chance to up their goal tally. Guerrero will face the home team Brazil in the final in Rio de Janeiro this weekend, while Vargas and his teammates will face Argentina to fight for the third place at the continental tournament.

Guerrero, who plays for Brazilian club Internacional, ranks fifth in the goal-scoring charts of the CONMEBOL Copa America, led by Argentina's Norberto Méndez with 17 goals scored.

"We now have to get to work and think about Brazil. It's going to be a very difficult final match," the Peruvian said Wednesday night after the game against Chileans.
