Castilla named new Peruvian Ambassador to US

The Peruvian government has appointed economist and politician Luis Miguel Castilla, former Finance Minister of Peru, as its new Ambassador to the United States, according to a supreme resolution published in the official gazette El Peruano.

The new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the United States of America will replace incumbent Harold Forsyth, who finished a five-year stint abroad in November.

The date Mr. Castilla will take office will be announced through a ministerial resolution.

Luis Miguel Castilla holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and served as Minister of Economy and Finance from 28 July 2011 to 14 September 2014 under the current administration.

The supreme resolution was inked by Peruvian President Ollanta Humala and Foreign Affairs Minister Gonzalo Gutierrez.
