Peru’s terms of trade rose 37.6% in January 2026 compared to the same month last year, driven by higher export prices, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported on Tuesday.

The issuing entity said export prices rose 35.3% year-on-year, highlighting higher prices for gold (74.8%), copper (51.2%), and fishmeal (32.7%).

In contrast, import prices fell 1.7% due to lower prices for oil and its derivatives, it explained.

Compared to the previous month, terms of trade increased 5.1%, mainly due to a 5.4% rise in export prices driven by higher gold and copper prices, the BCR added.
