"It is important to start working on certain issues that are vital if we want to grow at more attractive rates in the coming years. This, in turn, will lead to
more jobs and better salaries for citizens," BCP Economic Studies Department Manager Carlos Prieto expressed.
"Otherwise, we will run the risk of growing at 3% throughout this decade, an insufficient rate to generate social welfare," he added.
Human capital and formalization
Concerning human capital, Prieto affirmed that the creation of a pilot program for English-language teaching and technical courses at public schools is essential.
In addition, he proposed a tax and pro-formalization labor framework, as well as putting emphasis on elaborating budgets according to the results.
"The sectors such as:
agro-exports,
tourism, forestry, aquaculture, infrastructure-social housing construction, metal mechanics, and mining suppliers, among others, are called to absorb the millions of people, who currently have informal jobs offering low productivity and low wages," he stated.
