The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru) announced that the BAP Union is showcasing the best of our export supply and tourist destinations in Tokyo, Japan, at Casa Peru (Peru Home) —an exhibition and experience platform set up inside the ship.

Casa Peru is driven by Marca Peru (Peru Brand), and through it, our country is showcased at every port the BAP Union visits throughout its voyage around the world.

At the Japanese port, visitors can observe why Peru is a unique destination in the world, megadiverse, with a unique history and culture, as well as the potential of Super Foods Peru, specialty coffees, and fine alpaca fiber.

It is worth noting that Japan represents a strategic market for our country.

For trade promotion, a seminar on functional products as inputs for Japanese companies was scheduled, as well as a business round involving the companies from the trade mission of fresh and frozen fruit exporters affiliated to the Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex) and Japanese importers.

In this regard, non-mining energy exports to Japan in 2022 amounted to US$352 million in 2022 —a 23.9% increase over the previous year. A total of 421 Peruvian companies exported goods to this market.

On the other hand, focused on the tourism sector during the visit, a presentation was held for Japanese media on Peru's tourist destinations and another on the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project called "Sustainable Development of the Cultural Landscape of Upper Utcubamba Valley." These events took place at Peruvian restaurant Bépocah.

A tourism seminar was also organized for travel agents in Japan who handle overseas travel.

PromPeru aims to position our country in the important Japanese market using digital tools in line with the expectations of potential travelers.

In this regard, relevant and attractive information about Peru's best tourist destinations is being provided to motivate and influence the future travel decisions of Japanese consumers using digital channels on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter always focusing on gastronomy, culture, and nature, as well as news and useful information.

Upcoming Destinations

After its visit to Tokyo, the BAP Union will set sail for the Port of Busan, South Korea, where it will arrive on September 10 and stay for four days.

On September 18, the ship will be arriving at the port of Shanghai, China.
