14:53 | Tingo (Amazonas region), Jan. 29.

The archaeological site of El Imperio (The Empire) —located in Tingo district, Luya province (Amazonas region)— has been declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

Its construction is chronologically associated to the Chachapoyas culture, of the Late Intermediate Period (ca. 800-1470 A.D.) and has a cultural affiliation with the Incas, of the Late Horizon (ca. 1470-1532 A.D.).

The declaration was made official via Deputy Ministerial Resolution No. 021-2020-VMPCIC-MC, issued by the Ministry of Culture and published in El Peruano official gazette.

According to the resolution, the main construction elements of the archaeological complex are stones joined with mud mortar.

The architectural design includes terraces, as well as circular and octagonal structures adapted to the topography of the land.

The regulation stipulates that any new work project, roads, highways, channels, mining and farming claims, housing works, and other adjacent projects that may affect or alter the archaeological site must have the prior approval of the competent body at the Ministry of Culture.
