75% of Peruvians support the constitutional
reform proposed by the Executive Branch aimed at calling for early general elections by 2020, instead of 2021, the latest Ipsos poll has revealed.
According to the survey, 19% of respondents are against the initiative, while 6% do not specify.
Likewise, 74% of those polled agree to hold a referendum in order to approve the constitutional reform, while 23% expressed disagreement.
Furthermore, if the referendum was held now, 77% would vote in favor of holding early general elections, whereas 20% would vote against.
The poll found that if Congress does not approve the proposal presented by President Martin Vizcarra, 56% of Peruvians would prefer that the Executive Branch submit a confidence motion —with authorization from the Constitutional Court (TC)— and if a vote of confidence is not granted, they would like the Executive to dissolve it and call for new parliamentary elections.
