A total of 152 people in Lima and Callao were caught violating the
social immobilization ordered from 8:00 p.m. to 05:00 a.m., Peru's National Police Commander General Jose Luis Lavalle reported on Thursday.
Likewise, at dawn, law enforcement officers intervened 69 private vehicles of drivers whose auto titles and driving licenses have been confiscated.
"These drivers will face a S/6,300 (US$1,765) fine," Lavalle said in statements to RPP radio and TV station.
"Very few offences are related to property or other types of crimes," he stated.
However, Lavalle warned that some people are trying to swindle, steal, or catch citizens —who stay at home— by surprise, claiming to be health staff or enumerators.
"If there is someone knocking on the door, ask them to show their identification cards. You cannot open the door to strangers. Call the institution where they are supposed to work because, unfortunately, unscrupulous people are taking advantage of
the situation by fooling with the population," he emphasized.
