Transportadora de Gas del Peru (TGP) reported Tuesday on the progress of repair work being carried out on the natural gas and natural gas liquids transportation system in Megantoni district, Cusco region, southeastern Peru.

In this regard, the company indicated that work to restore the transportation service continues according to the planned schedule, achieving more than 50% progress in operations aimed at restoring natural gas supply.

"In addition, to date the evolution of the remaining gas stock in the pipeline allows us to be in a position to carry out a new increase in natural gas volume for deliveries, raising it from 70 to 86 million cubic feet per day. This increase will benefit the population's consumption, following the priorities determined by authorities," it stated in a release.

TGP explained that the transport of pipes for the system's recovery began yesterday, and that if weather conditions are favorable today, the remaining sections will be transported.

On the other hand, following water and soil monitoring conducted by SGS del Peru using accredited protocols and methodologies, it was verified that there was no spill and that the hydrocarbon released underwent combustion without impacting soil or water bodies, the company detailed.

TGP stated that it continues to deploy its greatest efforts without sparing resources to restore the service as soon as possible under the highest safety standards.
